Men found in possession of ivory

Springs police officers nabbed two men for possession of an elephant tusk on Saturday.
Acting on a tip-off, two members of the SAPS followed men walking along 4th Avenue.

“The two men were stopped and searched, and the officers were able to recover one elephant tusk,” explained Capt Johannes Ramphora.
The tusk weighed 1.289kg and is worth approximately R65 000.
The pair was taken to the Springs Police Station.
