Two men were found murdered after a hijacking near the N12 on Wednesday night.
A group of four men were travelling to Nelspruit on the N12 highway in a white Audi A1 when they experienced a flat tyre. They stopped under the bridge close to the Etwatwa off-ramp.
According to Capt Johannes Ramphora, communications officer at the Springs Police Station, all four men got out of the car to fix the tyre.

“They were approached by three unknown males, of which one was armed with a pistol. The suspects instructed the four men to lie on the ground.
“The suspect with the pistol fired a shot in the air,” he explained.
Ramphora said one of the victims managed to run to the other side of the road and hid in the bushes.
“He was still able to see the scene,” he explained.
The victim claims one of the hijackers instructed the other victims, who are his uncles, to get in the car, and they drove off towards Daveyton.
He was not able to see who was driving his uncle’s car at this point.

“The man noticed a silver VW Polo parked on the side of the same highway. It had a flat tyre and a broken window.
“He decided not to go to the car as it was suspicious. He went in the opposite direction instead,” he added.
Upon further investigation it was established that the driver of the Polo was shot and killed. He was later identified.
The victim then saw a marked police vehicle approaching and stopped it.
The officers drove with him in search of his uncles, the car and the hijackers, but with no success.
“When they were returning to the bridge, they saw a horse and trailer.
“Upon inspection, they discovered another man who was fatally shot in the left side of his head,” explained Ramphora.
