Johannes Jordaan tragically killed during robbery

The robbers then fled the scene in a white Nissan Almera with a black bumper and dropped a Rossi 38 special revolver, serial number AA707583 on the street outside the shop, with five empty cartridges inside.

This morning, Springs police spokesperson Capt Johannes Ramphora confirmed that only one of the five men involved in the robbery that took the life of Johannes Jordaan was found dead in Tsakane. 
“After fleeing from the scene, the men raced their accomplice to Pholosong Hospital where they dumped him at reception.
“He was declared dead on arrival.
“The gateway car used to flee from the scene was also abandoned at the hospital.
“We are still looking for the other four suspects involved in the robbery,” said Ramphora.
65-year-old Jordaan, was killed while defending his wife from robbers in their Geduld shop on Monday morning.
The businessman popularly known as Mr Lawnmower ran the shop for over 30 years.

Springs police spokesperson Capt Johannes Ramphora said Jordaan was in his office when two robbers entered the business and asked one of the employees about the lawnmowers on display.
The employee became suspicious of the pair when three more men entered the shop and two of them stood by the entrance.
She told Jordaan’s wife they were being robbed and she, in turn, relayed the message to her husband.
Jordaan came out of the office with his gun and noticed a man pointing a gun at his wife and immediately started shooting at them.
One or more of the robbers returned fire and Jordaan was wounded in the neck.

The wounded owner subsequently died on the scene.
At the time of publication, nothing was missing from the shop.
A case of murder has been opened at the Springs Police Station.
