The Springs Retirement Village hosted a social day for its residents and their families last Wednesday to celebrate Spring Day.
“After so much time spent in lockdown, we thought we would have this celebration to let everyone out in the sun. Some of them have not had any visits from their families and friends in months,” explained Thuli Radebe, the village’s administrator and liaison.

The residents were happy to socialise.

“We hoped to lift everyone’s spirits with some fun activities.”
The staff set up a braai and stalls with different goodies.

Past Jonathan Coates, from Geduld Methodist Church, said the event was a welcome distraction.
“It gives them new hope, just to see people. It is a brilliant idea by the staff. They are trying to make this place as homely as possible for the residents,” he added.

Families and friends were invited to celebrate Spring Day with their loved ones at the Springs Retirement Village.

Some of the residents from the centre’s frail care department had not been outside for months.
For their contribution towards the even’s success, Radebe thanked Strubenvale Pharmacy, Strubenvale Pick n Pay, Sengkhona, Hot Pot Paints, Mall@Carnival Pick n Pay, Potgieter Carpets and AfriForum.
