Five arrested in the CBD for contravening Disaster Management Act

The men are aged between 25 and 40 years years old and are expected to appear at the Springs Magistrates Court soon.

Five men were arrested during a police operation in Springs between 06:00 and 18:00 last Thursday.
Springs police spokesperson Capt Johannes Ramphora said officers pulled over the occupants of a suspicious-looking bakkie.
Once the driver had stopped, they asked the driver to open the back of the bakkie, where officers found numerous boxes of liquor.

The driver and his four passengers were arrested and charged with contravention of the Disaster Management Act for transporting liquor during the level four lockdown.
The men are aged between 25 and 40 years years old and are expected to appear in the Springs Magistrate’s Court soon.

Police confiscated this liquor.

Springs SAPS station commander Brig Thembeka Gwebushe applauded the officers for their hard work.
The value of the liquor confiscated is unknown at this stage.
