Man surprised by intruder in his home

The 55-year-old victim said he was alone in the house when he heard a funny noise coming from the kitchen.

A Casseldale man found himself face to face with a robber in his kitchen in the early hours of Thursday morning.
The 55-year-old victim said he was alone in the house when he heard a funny noise coming from the kitchen.
“He woke up to check and he saw a man already in the kitchen. The intruder pointed a gun at him,” said Capt Johanness Ramphora, communications officer of Springs Police Station.

It is alleged that the victim then ran back to his bedroom where he locked himself in.
“He broke a window and started screaming to attract the attention of neighbours to rescue him,” said Ramphora.
The suspect took two cellular phones. No shots were fired during the robbery.
The victim had minor cuts from a broken window.
