Cable theft a burning issue for Geduld resident

Geduld resident Dion Greyling has become frustrated with rampant cable theft in the area.
Thieves steal the plastic covers from the street light poles, as well as the cables.
To protect the street light outside his house from theft, Greyling has replaced the stolen cover with a piece of cardboard.

In addition, Greyling’s camera that faces onto the street has been damaged by thieves.
He is also frustrated that the street lights are left on during the day.
“These lights don’t have any day/night switches, so they are left burning the whole day.
There are many residents who pay their electricity bills every month, so surely the metro has enough money to address this issue?” said Greyling.
