Two arrested for hijacking

“They pushed me to the back seat where I was further assaulted with the firearm while they demanded money."

Duduza – Two men were arrested for hijacking a local taxi driver in Duduza on Friday.
According to the owner of the vehicle, Thabo Gima, he was driving his white Toyota Corolla when he stopped to pick up two men who said they were going to Zamani.
As he was driving, he felt a gun pressed to the back of his head and he was ordered to stop his car.
“They pushed me to the back seat where I was further assaulted with the firearm while they demanded money.
“They eventually threw me out of the moving vehicle along Tonk Meter Road,” he explained.

Duduza police spokesperson Sgt Harry Manaka said the victim ran to the Duduza Police Station to report the incident.
“Police alerted patrolling officers and the vehicle was recovered a short while after by the police in Tsakani and two suspects were also arrested.
“We would like to sensitise the local taxi operators to be extra vigilant when picking up passengers, especially when it’s dark, ” he added.
