Hijacking on the N17

The truck and trailer were later found in Crystal Park, Benoni.

A truck driver had to find his way home after he was hijacked on the N17 last Sunday morning.
Springs police spokesperson Capt Johannes Ramphora said the driver was travelling along the highway when the occupants in the car behind him flashed their lights at him, indicating something was wrong with his truck.
The truck driver stopped and got out of the truck to investigate.
A white VW Golf GTI stopped next to him and six men got out.

One of the men pointed a gun at the driver and forced him into their car before making a U-turn and driving towards Secunda, while the other men followed behind with the truck.
After they drove over the Blesbokspruit, the men turned into the maize fields, stopped their car and forced the truck driver out.
Two of the men stayed with the truck driver while the others left with the car and the truck.
At 14:30, the men returned with their car and picked up the other two men.
