Studio K to host fund-raiser for Karlien Roets

All proceeds from the show will go to the Karlien Roets Special Trust.

The Studio K Dance Studio will be hosting a fund-raiser for Karlien Roets (5), who suffered a traumatic brain injury after an accident at her Brakpan home in August 2018.
The dinner and dance benefit show will be at The Riverside Country Estate at 6pm on May 7.
All proceeds from the show will go to the Karlien Roets Special Trust.
Keri Thompson, the owner of Studio K, said Karlien’s story has affected her deeply and the little girl has carved her way into her heart.
The accident has put a severe financial strain on the Roets household.

“For Karlien to undergo therapy once a week costs R7 500. It also costs the family an alarming R19 500 per month for Karlien’s 24-hour nursing.
“Karlien is a little warrior and continues to show promise in various ways.
“She is currently off of oxygen which is a huge victory, and even manages to take small breaths on her own, whilst on the ventilator.
“We’re hoping that by helping out, we can make this fight easier on the whole family.
“I wanted to help in any way I could, and quickly realised I had so many resources at my fingertips that I could use to make a difference,” said Thompson.
Thompson said Karlien is making progress all the time and has started making movements on her own.
“The family sees a lot of progress when Karlien undergoes therapy. The medical aid covers 12 sessions a year, but Karlien needs at least one session a week.
“When they do get money, they try to pay for therapy,” said Thompson.
The fund-raiser will not only help the family financially but will also help free up time for them to spend as a family.

The benefit show will take place on May 7.

To make the fund-raiser a success, the studio needs help with the following items;
• Monetary donations (to go towards some costuming still needed, props, food, and other costs involved)
• Welcome drinks sponsorships/champagne on the tables
• Photography to cover the event
• Photo backdrop to welcome guests
• Gifts, or vouchers to be auctioned off or to put in a raffle hamper
• Dance floor
• Stage sponsorship in the event of rain
• Ticket sponsorship for a table
• Band / after show performer
• Video coverage
• Sound
• Dressmakers
