Pregnancy centre in need of donations

A registered NPO, the centre’s services include pregnancy testing, limited ultrasounds, HIV testing as well as counselling.

The Hope Ithemba Crisis Pregnancy Centre is in urgent need of supplies.
The centre, in Springs, aims to help pregnant women make the right decision for themselves and their babies.
A registered NPO, the centre’s services include pregnancy testing, limited ultrasounds, HIV testing as well as counselling.
They do not perform abortions or arrange adoptions, but offer adoption referrals and work closely with child welfare and other adoption agencies should the mother decide on adoption.

In addition, the centre also offers post-abortion support to women who have undergone the procedure and are experiencing emotional symptoms such as anxiety, isolation, worry and anger.
The centre realises these women need someone to talk to in a confidential environment.
“We have trained client advocates who will provide support and help clients walk through their experience, thoughts and feelings,” said coordinator Doriann Venter.
According to Venter, the number of pregnancies has increased dramatically during the lockdown, putting more pressure on the centre and its resources.
