Family tied up during robbery

The victim took the tools back to the garage and was confronted by three men as he returned to the house.

A family in Largo were unharmed despite their attackers’ best efforts during a home robbery last Friday evening.
The victim told police he and his family were sleeping when he was awakened by his dogs barking.
Getting up to investigate, the victim went outside but found nothing untoward.
He then went back into the house to get food for the dogs and noticed his tools inside the house.

The victim took the tools back to the garage and was confronted by three men as he returned to the house.
Two of the men were armed with knives while the other was brandishing a gun.
The robbers forced the victim inside the house and tied up him and his family.
They ransacked the home and repeatedly asked the victim about the location of his firearm.
After finding ammunition in the safe, the robbers kept threatening the victim and demanded he hand over his gun.

Fearing they would discover the gun, the victim distracted the robbers and his wife managed to untie him.
The victim then pulled out his gun and started shooting at the robbers, who fled the scene.
He chased after the men, but was unable to apprehend them.
A television set, diamonds, six cellphones, R4 000 in cash and ammunition for a 9mm gun were stolen.
