Man robbed of his car after refusing to give lift to stranger

The victim told police he was at an address along Liebenstein Street in Selcourt to inspect the construction of a house when he was approached by a man who asked him for a lift to Brakpan.

A Selcourt man was robbed of his vehicle last week Thursday by a man to whom he refused to give a lift.
The victim told police he was at an address along Liebenstein Street in Selcourt to inspect the construction of a house when he was approached by a man who asked him for a lift to Brakpan.
After the victim refused, the man threatened him and told him he had a gun.

The man then pulled out a steel pipe and the victim fled to the house.
The man got into the victim’s car and drove off.
Pursued by police and ADT, the man lost control of the car and collided with another vehicle at the Dalpark Toll Plaza in Brakpan.
He was arrested by members of the SAPS Flying Squad and is facing charges of reckless and negligent driving.

After his arrest, it emerged that the same man is linked to a domestic violence case in Selcourt, where he allegedly set his wife’s car alight.
He faces charges of malicious damage to property.
At the time of the fire, the man’s wife alleged he was under the influence of drugs.
