Rude awakening for elderly resident

Elderly Bakerton woman robbed in her home

A 72-year-old Bakerton woman was robbed in her home last Friday morning.
Springs police spokesperson Capt Johannes Ramphora said the elderly woman was awakened by the sound of somebody fiddling with the back door.
After getting up to investigate, she pulled back the curtains at the kitchen window and saw a man staring back at her.
Two men then kicked open the wooden door.

One of the robbers kept a watch over the woman, while the other went to the living room and took a 44-inch TV valued at R5 500.
They then fled on foot.
The robbers were armed with a crow bar and gained entry to the property by cutting the barbed wire fence on top of the boundary wall.
