Four arrested in joint operation

Suspects arrested after joint operation between SAPS, Prasa and Trasnet

Springs police, together with Prasa and Transnet, conducted a massive operation in the Springs precinct last Wednesday.
The purpose of the operation was to raid and trace stolen property from various scrapyards around Springs.
About 30 scrapyards were visited to check for non-compliance and for stolen property belonging to Prasa and Transnet.
The operation yielded good results and four suspects were arrested for possession of stolen property, as well as one illegal immigrant.

The following items were recovered:
• Copper cables and an iron rail belonging to Transnet.
• Copper and 14 bags of nuts belonging to Eskom.

Stolen copper cables were recovered during the operation.

“The operation serves as a deterrent to criminals not to steal any infrastructure because it kills the economy of the country.
“Those arrested for possessing stolen property will appear in the Springs Magistrate’s Court soon,” said Springs police spokesperson Capt Johannes Ramphora.
