Selcourt residents plagued by water problems

Residents face intermittent water cuts in Selcourt

The past six months have been difficult for residents of Selcourt as they have been plagued by water problems.
Residents allege they either have very low water pressure or no water at all.
The interruptions are unpredictable, with residents often waking up to no water, which causes problems for those needing to get ready for school or work.
Different parts of Selcourt are affected, including Hollinger Avenue and Kenton Road.

To residents it appears as though their water problems can be linked to the reservoir being built in the area, but they have not been able to get a clear answer from the City of Ekurhuleni.
The building of the reservoir started in January, when most residents started experiencing water problems.
Residents claim their complaints to the City have been ignored and nothing has been done to fix the problem.
Others who have complained said the water pressure improves for a day or two, before becoming problematic again.

“Our appliances have been damaged, even my geyser is buggered up now,” said one unimpressed resident.
“We woke up to no water, with two babies that needed feeding.
“We couldn’t bath them last night due to the water pressure.
“Can we please have feedback on the restoration time as this has been going on for three weeks now,” wrote exasperated resident Morné de Bruin in an email to the City.
Comment from the City will be published once it has been received.
