Tow truck driver hijacked after responding to call-out

The driver of a tow truck was hijacked on Wednesday afternoon.
This is after he was called out to Wright Park to tow a vehicle.
Springs police spokesperson Capt Johannes Ramphora said when the driver arrived at the address, there was no vehicle to be towed.

The driver contacted his manager to inform him of the situation when a man appeared and asked the driver if he was there to tow a car.
Another man then climbed into the tow truck and pointed a gun at the driver.
The driver was forced out of the truck, where a cloth was put in his mouth and his hands were tied together.
He was covered with a blanket and shoved into a vehicle that two other accomplices had arrived in.

The driver was also robbed of his cellphone and money.
He was left at a vacant house in the area.
