KwaThema – The body of a 28-year-old man was found in the early hours of Monday in the Ekurhuleni informal settlement. The deceased has been identified as Melusi Mxolisi Mrhweqane and he is believed to have been the victim of a mob justice attack. Kwa-Thema police spokesperson Sgt Media Khoza said he sustained serious injuries.

“A case of murder has been opened and the investigation is underway. “We are calling on anyone who may have information to contact Crime Stop on 08600 10111, make use of the MySAPS app or visit the nearest police station,” she said. Kwa-Thema SAPS station commander Col Mareketle Thobejane condemned the act of violence. “We are pleading with the community to refrain from mob justice attacks.

“It is against the law and those found committing this crime will be arrested. “We are encouraging residents to work with police and report any criminal activities and allow the law to take its course,” he said.
