Ladies-only gym a safe haven for women

The singer said his active lifestyle has not only helped him stay healthy, but also made him a better performer on stage.

What started out as a favour to a friend has grown into a fully fledged women-only gym in just six years, boasting with 67 members.
Owner Nastassja Welgemoed’s mission with Dumbbell Divas Ladies Only Gym is to empower women to become better, stronger versions of themselves.
Welgemoed said when she first started out, she made it her goal to train only women as she understands a woman’s body and how it works and knows women feel comfortable being trained by another woman.
She is now aiming to help change the lives of 100 women through her Casseldale-based gym.
The women who train at the gym empower each other and have formed a great bond and help each other excel.
ā€œWe’re all on the same page and nobody judges, itā€™s a carefree environment. The most fulfilling part of my job is helping women regain their confidence and love themselves again.

ā€œAs women, we lead very busy lifestyles and tend to put ourselves last, so it makes me happy when I see women making time for themselves, putting in the work and seeing results.
ā€œIt’s a journey we have started together and end together,ā€ said Welgemoed.
Welgemoed said it’s important for her to set the example, not just for her clients, but for her two children as well.
ā€œExercising and eating healthy is not just something you do when you’re trying to lose weight, but should be a part of a balanced lifestyle.ā€
When not in the gym, Welgemoed and her husband, Juandre, are avid golfers and love camping.
On Saturday, Welgemoed launched the brand-new look of her gym with the help of singer and fitness enthusiast Dirk van der Westhuizen.
The singer said his active lifestyle has not only helped him stay healthy, but also made him a better performer on stage.
