• Fraud bust in Springs
Springs police found R94 750 in fraudulent notes after searching a car.
Const Johann Prinsloo and Const Sarel Heaney saw a suspicious-looking Mercedes-Benz on the corner of Third Street and Fourth Avenue.
Upon searching the vehicle, the two officers found a plastic bag containing R94 750 of fraudulent bank notes.
Five suspects were arrested at the scene.
Police urge residents to be wary of receiving and using such bills.

• Pedestrians safer now at Olympia Park
A traffic light has been erected at Olympia Park School to ensure the safety of children.
This comes after a council committee gave the green light on the project, which the school’s principal was pushing for.
Installation of the light will cost an estimated R28 325.
This light will not only ensure the safety of Olympia Park learners, but other school learners who make use of the sport ground.
• Old water pipes to be replaced soon
The Department of the Town Engineer will soon be replacing old water pipes in Second Street.
Residents should note the installation of these pipes will temporarily cut off water supply.
Council asks for the community’s patience and understanding.

• Local players take part in international rugby league
Five players of the St Helen’s Devils in Springs will feature in the Transvaal Rugby League side which will be taking on Queensland of Australia on October 11.
The match will be played at the Herman Immelman Stadium in Germiston and the kickoff is at 7.30pm
