Suspects lie in wait to target man as he arrives home

A 35-year-old man was ambushed by three suspects as he arrived home in New State Areas on Thursday evening.
Springs police spokesperson Capt Johannes Ramphora explained the victim parked his car in the driveway and was heading to the house when he was confronted by three men, two of whom were armed with guns.
The victim screamed but the suspects instructed him to keep quiet and open the door.

After telling them he didn’t have keys to the house, the suspects insisted the victim knock on the door.
From inside the house, the victim’s wife could hear a commotion but she opened the door at her husband’s request.
Once inside, the suspects ransacked the house, taking two cellphones, a laptop, an amplifier with two speakers and jewellery.
The suspects fled in the victim’s car, a Hyundai i30.

No shots were fired during the incident and no injuries were reported.
