Fund-raiser aims to bring back the fun for Vita Nova residents

Help bring fun and joy to residents of Vita Nova Centre

After not being able to visit a loved one at the Vita Nova Centre due to the Covid-19 pandemic, one kind-hearted woman has started a fund-raising initiative to buy activity supplies for the centre’s residents.

Tracey Dicker has been unable to visit her partner’s cousin, who is a resident at the centre, since March.

Although the couple has done video calls and dropped off packages for him, it’s just not the same.

“Considering they are used to receiving visitors and going to stay with family and having fun days and outings planned, this must be a very confusing time.

“Being stuck at the centre for their own safety has now become very boring,” said Dicker.

She has set herself a target of R2 800 and has received R1 025 to date.

Dicker hopes more people will donate what they can.

One of the things she hopes to buy is a play dough.

“The owner of Raindough (a 10-year-old girl) has promised to donate a further school set of play dough if I reach my target donation with my campaign, as well as donating some extra cutters and rollers.

“The school set I am hoping to purchase is 7kg of dough per pack.

“This scented play dough is super bright and the dough is really soft and non-toxic.

“When looking at write-ups on the benefits of tactile and sensory play, I know this dough would be greatly beneficial to the Vita Nova residents.

“Every bit helps, no matter how small, and by donating we know we’ll be bringing some fun and joy to the residents,” said Dicker.
