Four men who pretended to be customers robbed a jewellery store at the Palm Springs Shopping Centre on Tuesday afternoon.
At least two of the men were armed with guns.
Springs police spokesperson Amanda Greybe said two men wearing masks entered the shop and asked to buy gold jewellery.

They were shown gold chains, pendants and rings by a 60-year-old woman who works at the shop.
Two other men then came to the door and were buzzed into the shop.
The man who last entered the shop made his way around the counter and started taking the jewellery.
When the woman tried to stop him, the robber told her he has a gun.
They emptied the jewellery into a shopping bag and pushed the woman and her coworker to the back of the shop, demanding to know the location of the safe.

Before leaving the shop, the robber armed with a gun pointed the weapon at the woman and demanded she hand over her gold Rolex watch worth approximately R40 000.
According to the woman’s coworker, one of the other men also had a firearm.
No shots were fired and no injuries were reported.
In addition to the Rolex, the robbers fled with jewellery valued at approximately R80 000.
