Church feeding scheme still has much work to be done

Jesus is Light feeding scheme needs your help

For 18 years, the Jesus is Light outreach feeding scheme has gone out of their way to the feed the needy people of Springs.

Since 2002, the Eastvale church has made it their duty to feed 50 families a week and they have done so almost without fail.

The families they help receive packages of vegetables, sugar, rice, oats, and canned food.

One package is enough to feed a a family for a month.

Church member Susan van Wyk explains there is still much work to be done.

“The lockdown has been terrible for everyone.

“But it’s the people in Geduld that I am most concerned about right now, there are people there in desperate need,” she says.

Van Wyk and her team deliver food to people, but some collect it themselves at the church.

In addition to helping individual families, the church also donates foods to various schools and charities in Springs and Brakpan.

“We are very blessed to be able to do this, but at the same time we know that there is still a lot of work to be done,” adds van Wyk.

Although they are grateful to all the sponsors that have helped them thus far the church is in need of a slight boost to cope with the increase in demand.
