Speeding cars a danger to children

Teachers fear for safety of pupils

Teachers and parents from the Creative Education Centre on Ramona Road in Selcourt are concerned about cars speeding past the school.

They want speed humps installed.

According to teacher June Baker, many vehicles, especially taxis, drive far over the speed limit of 60kph on this road.

Parents ask for speed humps near school

These incidents of speeding are particularly frequent in the mornings when the school opens and parents arrive.

“The taxis use this road as a race track.

“We have had three accidents over the past year on this road, and the children could have easily been injured,” said Baker.

“If speed humps or speed warning signs aren’t installed on this road, there could be a really ugly accident.”The metro have failed to respond to our inquiries.
