Suspect cuts burglar bars to gain entry to house

The suspect left without taking anything.

A couple in Strubenvale managed to scare a suspect into leaving with none of their possession after he broke into their house on Monday morning.

The complainant says at approximately 1am he went to bed after making sure all the windows and doors were locked.

Fifteen minutes later, he woke up to sounds coming from the living room.

When he got up to check what was going on, he saw a suspect, wearing a balaclava, cutting the burglar bars and had already forced open the sliding doors.

Seeing the complainant, the suspect threatened to shoot him.

Having heard what the suspect said, the complainant’s wife told the suspect the police were already there.

The suspect got spooked and threatened the complainant he would come back to kill and rape his wife before fleeing the house.

The suspect left without taking anything.

Damage to the house is approximately R10 000.
