Resident helping learners with food during lockdown

Capitec helps feed Duduza families.

Duduza – Resident Khanyisile Hleza, in partnership with Capitec and Monty Motloung Foundation, deliver food parcels to 70 families.

Identified families for the food parcels were educated about Covid-19 and basic hygiene practices by health officials from Duduza Clinic. The event was held at AGAPE Christian Family Church on Wednesday.

“As an employee of Capitec I thought it would be fitting to approach my own company for help.

“The food parcels are for learners who relied on school feeding schemes programmes, but since the schools have been closed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, I figured they must be struggling with basic nutritional meals, which is why we started this campaign,” explains Hleza.

The primary schools which benefited from the initiative were eSibonisiwe and Dalinceba.

“With the donation from Capitec we had selected 50 families, but luckily local businessman Boas Seruwe from Daybreak Chicken Farm came on board and we were able to assist 20 more families.

“It is such a great feeling to see the community come together to help one another.

“JMB Funeral Services helped with the transportation of the elderly community members and ensuring our beneficiaries got home safe with their food parcels,” she adds. Attendees also received screening from clinic personnel.
