The floor manager at Pick n Pay Springsgate, Etienne Priebe, took a walk through the sanitising tunnel, which the store has placed outside their business, when he chatted to the Addie earlier this week.
Customers are encouraged to walk through the tunnel, on their way into the store, to sanitise their whole body before they begin their shopping.
Current research has revealed that Covid-19 can live on various surfaces, such as skin, clothing and shoes, for a while after an infected person has been in an area and the store management decided that it would be a great idea to add a little more safety to the shopping experience for all their patrons.
Priebe says feedback from customers has mostly been positive.
“We wanted to do something different and go the extra mile for our customers.
“It’s not pure alcohol, but it sanitises your whole body, including the soles of your shoes,” says Priebe.
