Security guard shot at work

The man says he wants to sue his employer.

A security guard was shot in the buttocks after at break-in at a local security company in March, says Springs police spokesperson Capt Johannes Ramphora.

The complainant says he was on duty when he noticed some movement from the guardhouse and went to investigate.

He saw a person getting into the guardhouse through the window.

When he went out the guardhouse he heard a noise and felt something hitting him on the right side of his buttocks.

He fell to the ground and pretended to be dead.

He saw eight suspects approach him and heard them arguing with each other about whether their victim was still alive or dead.

Another security guard, who was not on duty, heard what was happening and came out of the guardroom, where he was promptly held at gunpoint by the suspects who told him to phone an ambulance for his colleague.

The suspects fled after that.

The ambulance took the victim to Far East Rand Hospital, where, upon arrival, doctors told him he had been shot in his buttocks.

The complainant says he doesn’t know the suspects and cannot identify them because it was too dark.

He says the only reason he reported the incident to police this week is because he wants to sue his company.
