Addie staff in the kitchen: Chocolate biscuit fudge

Try out this age-old delicious recipe of chocolate biscuit fudge. A winner at any dinner, party or just for the heck of it.

STEP 1: Gather all your ingredients.

Ingredients: (Sponsored by Springsgate Pick n Pay)

• 2 tablespoons cocoa.

• 250g butter/margarine.

• 500g icing sugar.

• 1 teaspoon vanilla essence.

• 1 pack Marie biscuits.

• 1 large egg.

Method:

STEP 2: Crush Marie biscuits roughly, be careful not to crush it too fine, you do not want powder. Set aside for now.

STEP 3: Melt butter/margarine in a pot over low heat. When the butter/margarine is melted, add the icing sugar and cocoa. Mix thoroughly.

STEP 4: Whisk egg and vanilla together. Add to chocolate mixture. IMPORTANT NOTE: Do not add directly to pot, the hot mixture will cook the egg and you’ll have pieces of egg in the fudge. Spoon a small amount of the hot mixture into the egg and stir. Add a little more to the egg. This allows the egg to be warmed up, then add the entire egg mixture to the pot and mix well.

STEP 5: Remove the mixture from the heat and add the crushed Marie biscuits. Gently mix together with the chocolate mixture.

STEP 6: Place mixture onto a baking tray that has been sprayed with non-stick cooking spray. You can also line the tray with baking paper. Spread evenly to all sides and put in fridge for a few hours or overnight to set properly.

STEP 7: Once cooled and set, cut into equal squares.

STEP 8: Enjoy! (In moderation)
