Boxer Hunger Relief Programme provides support for communities in need

You can help feed South African families from the comfort of your easy chair.

The Boxer Hunger Relief Programme is an initiative which provides help to people in South Africa and eSwatini who are struggling with a shortage of nutritious food during the Covid-19 pandemic and resulting national shutdown.

Through Boxer’s network of 300 stores, non-profit organisations are able to collect fully packed food parcels and deliver them to families in need.

Boxer shoppers, many of whom have raised their hand in support, are also able to directly impact the lives of many people and make a real difference.

“This is another addition to the many efforts to support the communities we serve.

“Through our shoppers, generous donors and businesses, we are able to provide food and food parcels to people who have been waiting for food assistance,” says Boxer marketing director Andrew Mills.

Hundreds of food parcels await collection from NGOs who will deliver them to families in need.

The Boxer Hunger Relief Programme has several ways for customers to assist Boxer feed impoverished communities.

In store, shoppers can help by purchasing from a range of selected items.

Boxer will donate 10c back to the community for each item sold.

Boxer shoppers can also purchase any items in-store and place those goods into specially marked Hunger Relief trolleys at the front of the store.

Both of these collections are added to the store’s monthly community donation allowance and distributed to pre-selected organisations chosen by each of the 300 stores.

The Boxer Hunger Relief Programme is assisting organisations with nutritious food parcels for vulnerable communities across South Africa.

Businesses and individuals wanting to assist communities with monetary donations can do so by visiting www.boxer.co.za and clicking on the Hunger Relief Foundation tab.

After filling out the assistance form, the Boxer Hunger Relief Programme team will get in contact and assist donors with their donation requirements.

Donors will see their funds being used to create food parcels for the many NGOs and feeding schemes needing help during these challenging times.

In addition, companies and businesses who want to support their staff during the lockdown can also request eCoupons by filling out the details on the same Hunger Relief Programme section of the Boxer website.

“The Hunger Relief Programme will see every cent and every grocery item donated by generous South Africans go towards deserving people in need.

“As the community champion we are determined to assist the communities we serve during these difficult times.

“We stand with our government and with all of our new and existing shoppers in the fight to beat the Covid-19 pandemic,” adds Mills.
