Beef chow mein takes a little time to assemble but this simple and tasty recipe is well worth that time spent in the kitchen.

STEP 1: Gather all the ingredients you will need.

Ingredients

Marinade

Method

Once you have prepared your vegetables as above and marinaded the meat, assembly of this dish takes about 30 min.

STEP 2: Mix marinade ingredients. Add meat, toss to coat and set aside to marinate for a couple of hours.

Prepare the noodles while cooking the rest of the dish. Cook the noodles until soft, remove from water and toss in a little oil. Heat 15 ml oil in a wok and fry the noodles. Sprinkle soy sauce over to give a golden colour. Remove from wok and place on a heated plate. Keep warm.

STEP 3: Ensure that you have all your vegetables chopped or sliced as required.

STEP 4: Grate your ginger and chop the garlic ready for use.

STEP 5: Heat 15 ml oil, add garlic and fry lightly. Add the vegetables and stir-fry until crisply cooked. Add salt, sugar and ginger and mix. Remove from wok.

STEP 6: Wipe out wok, add 30 ml oil and heat. Add beef with the marinade and stir-fry to cook, about 5 minutes. Add the stock and bring to the boil while stirring. Add the cooked vegetables to the wok and combine.

STEP 7: Serve and enjoy. This recipe works well with chicken or seafood as well.
