Man steals food from Daggafontein squatter camp shop

A man, claiming to be hungary, stole R202 worth of food from a local shop.

A business robbery took place at Roxane Whole Sales in Daggafontein squatter camp at approximately 5.45pm on Wednesday.

According to Springs police spokesperson Capt Johannes Ramphora, the complainant says he was at his shop when a man entered the premises.

The suspect took packets of mealie meal, valued at R77, and rice to the value of R125.

He then walked out of the shop.

When the shop owner asked the suspect if he was going to pay for the food, the man took out a pistol and pointed it at the complainant.

He said he was hungry and then left the shop.

Ramphora says that the complainant will be able to identify the suspect who is a regular customer.
