Hijacking on the N12

Springs Police spokesperson Capt Johannes Ramphora says the victim was driving a golden brown Mercedez-Benz X Class near the Etwatwa off-ramp when a white Volkswagen Touran with blue lights pulled him over.

A man was hijacked on the N12 Etwatwa off-ramp after he stopped for a blue light van.

Springs Police spokesperson Capt Johannes Ramphora says the victim was driving a golden brown Mercedez-Benz X Class near the Etwatwa off-ramp when a white Volkswagen Touran with blue lights pulled him over.

The victim stopped, thinking it was the police.

The Touran was parked behind him and the driver approached him and asked directions to the Bapsfontein off-ramp.

While they were talking, three other suspects climbed into the complainant’s vehicle, and the suspect sitting directly behind him pulled out his gun and held him at gunpoint.

The suspects then drove the victim’s car and took the Etwatwa off-ramp and drove to an open field where they put the complainant into their car.

They drove around with him and dropped him off near an Eskom facility as they could not find the car’s tracker.

The security guard at the Eskom facility took him to Moffetview SAPS.

The vehicle was found at Phumula Mall Cash and Carry that evening.
