Springs CPF and police bust dagga plantation

“It was co-operation between the CPF and the police that led to the quick arrest,” says van Heerden.

A routine traffic pull-over on the N17 near Germiston led the Springs CPF and police to one of their biggest drug busts so far this year.

Last Wednesday, the Springs CPF and Gauteng Flying Squad pulled over a man in his 30s who was driving a car that had been reported stolen.

Upon searching the driver, it was found he had over a R1 000 worth of dagga on him.

A subsequent investigation led the CPF with the police to a plot in Endicott.

Springs CPF chairperson Barend van Heerden says the smell of the plants was quite potent.

“There was a lot of dagga, and it was higher grade dagga.

“There were no arrests made because the person was not selling the product, it was just confiscated.

“He was making it into soaps and oils for people with cancer,” says CPF chairperson Barend van Heerden.
