Police move up the ranks
Gwebushe told the officers they should be proud of what they had achieved and said their achievement belonged not only to them, but to their families too.
There was excitement in the air as the police gathered in the boardroom at the Springs Police Station on Friday morning.
Officers were due to be promoted and receive their new rank insignia from station commander Brig Thembeka Gwebushe.
Speaking at the start of the ceremony, Gwebushe said the day was an emotional one for her.

“When I was promoted to the rank of sergeant, I was in disbelief and kept asking myself if this was really happening to me.
“My life started to change for the better,” says Gwebushe.
Gwebushe told the officers they should be proud of what they had achieved and said their achievement belonged not only to them, but to their families too.
“You are the new brooms in this organisation, and you must sweep clean.”
Col Rajesh Ramlal also spoke to the officers, saying, “In your old position, whatever negative you experienced, brush it off.

“Look forward to your new appointment.
“You have a big role ahead of you and your primary job is to reduce crime in your area.”
Forty constables were promoted to the rank of sergeant, which is given to officers who have been in the police force for approximately 10 years.
Three sergeants were promoted to the rank of warrant officer, which is given to officers who have been in the police force for between eight and 10 years.
