Mini-dumping site will relieve pressure

The site will also have a designated recycling area as part of the City’s efforts towards preserving the environment.

The new mini-dumping site in Geduld dumping site is complete and fully operational.

This dumping site serves to reduce the pressure on landfill sites in the area and to make transporting refuse easier for the solid waste department.

An increase in infrastructure in the area has been the cause of this excess waste.

Construction began in May of 2019 and final renovations and expansions began in October.

Ward councillor Thulani Simelane says: “This dumping site will be great for the community.

“They have been struggling with refuse and it resulted in illegal dumping sites, but now with this, the pressure will be much less.”
