Pensioner assaulted during Geduld robbery

He then took off the victim's glasses and hit her with his fist on the side of her head, then checked behind the counter to see of there was any money kept there.

A 60-year-old woman was held at gunpoint and assaulted during a robbery in a Geduld store on Tuesday.

Springs Police spokesperson Capt Johannes Ramphora says the woman opened the door for two men she thought were customers.

While at the reception area, one of the suspects asked for a bottle of water and was directed to the bathroom by the victim.

The other suspect at reception asked the victim about a book and a few courses, while communicating with the one in the bathroom area.

The suspect at reception then demanded money from the victim and didn’t believe the victim when she told him there was no money in the premises.

He then took off the victim’s glasses and hit her with his fist on the side of her head, then checked behind the counter to see if there was any money kept there.

The suspect then grabbed the victim’s arm, pulled out his gun, held it to the victim’s head and threatened to shoot her if she screamed.

Thereafter, he slapped the victim while demanding money from her.

Realising there was no money, he then took the company cellphone and called the other suspect who was in the bathroom and they left the building together.

A third suspect was waiting for the pair outside in a white VW Polo and the trio drove off.
