Pensioners attacked in Largo home

Three of the suspects were wearing balaclavas and were armed with pangas.

An elderly couple were rudely awakened by four suspects who appeared in their bedroom and switched the lights on, says Springs police spokesperson Capt Johannes Ramphora.

The suspect with the gun pointed it at the elderly couple and demanded money and guns from them.

They then tied each victim’s hands together using shoelaces and left them on the bed before ransacking the house.

The suspects managed to open a small safe next the bed, looking for a gun, but only found the woman’s medicine inside.

The suspects couldn’t open the big safe as the keys we nowhere to be found.

The suspects threw a duvet over the couple before fleeing and the woman managed to cut theirs hands loose with a knife as her hands were tied in front of them.

Suspects fled with one white Changan Star bakkie with registration DZ41TV GP, a green Cherry QQ sedan with registration number FP44SY GP.

The suspects also took two TVs, two desktop computers, a router, sound system, petrol scooter and two cellphones, all valued at approximately R770 000.
