Springs Good Citizen for January announced

The Potter's Haven houses 20 children between the ages of four months and 16 years old.

The Potter’s Haven was voted Springs Good Citizen for the month of January.

Marlene Minnie, with her husband, Andries, and son, Andrew have committed themselves to caring for abandoned and abused children.

The foster cluster has served the Springs community for 15 years.

“Our job is to take the broken little souls, heal and equip them to be independent.

“We have to do this in a safe environment,” she explains.

The Potter’s Haven houses 20 children between the ages of four months and 16 years old.

“We perform as a normal household.

“So we buy everything we need daily from our bank account.”

Marlene says they have two babies and their nappies and baby formula are a huge expense.

Each month, the winner will receive a R1 000 cash prize and an interview with the Springs Advertiser to inspire others.

They also receive vouchers from Springs Mall.

Nominations for the Good Citizen award must be posted to @I Love Springs’ Facebook page before the 25th of each month.

All nominations received will be posted as a poll on the I Love Springs page so that the public can vote for the winner.
