Metro has plan to address refuse collection backlog

Many residents in Selcourt Extension Seven were concerned about their refuse not being collected.

Some alleged that they had waited for as long as three weeks, but no one came to collect the rubbish.

The Addie sent an enquiry to the metro’s divisional head of communication and media relations, Nhlanhla Cebekhulu.

Cebekhulu responded: “The metro was aware of the backlog and it was addressed on January 4.

“The collection day is scheduled for Fridays, but the city faced backlog challenges, which are currently being addressed.

“The city has deployed an operational plan to clear all backlogs by February 7.”
