Promising progress on Presidents dam

According to a recent press release, biological measures will be implemented after the coverage is below 10 per cent.

As recently stated in a press release, the Ekurhuleni Metro has employed a mechanical crane to remove the water hyacinths that have been plaguing Presidents dam. The release states that some progress have been made.

A mechanical crane can be seen on the banks of the dam during the day, along with dried out heaps of the discarded plants.

While progress is slow, and much of the dam remains covered, some portions of the water is free of hyacinths.

According to the press release, biological measures will be implemented after the hyacinth coverage is below 10 per cent.

Ward Councillor Ramesh Sheodin says he is happy with the progress made thus far.
