Man disappointed by service from police

The complaint says he feels angry and frustrated by what happened because this is the third break-in, by who he suspects are the same perpetrators, at his home this year.

A Dersely man is disappointed by the service he received from police after his house was broken into for the third time this year.

The complainant, who wished to remain anonymous, says the latest break-in happened two weeks ago on a Saturday afternoon.

“I called the police station and got through.

“After I spoke to the officer on the phone, he informed me police would be sent to my address.

“Nobody showed up, even after I called them several times.

“They only arrived on Sunday afternoon, after I had threatened to call the general about what was happening,” says the complainant.

The man says the police took a statement from him about what happened and left.

When the man called the investigating officer (IO) a few days later to ask about the progress of his case, he was allegedly told by the IO he was waiting for the fingerprint results to come.

This, the man says, is a lie.

“He couldn’t have been waiting for fingerprints because the police did not take any prints when they were at my house on Sunday,” says the complainant.

The complaint says he feels angry and frustrated by what happened because this is the third break-in, by who he suspects are the same perpetrators, at his home this year.

Additionally, the man says while waiting for police to arrive on Sunday, he came across a police van in Dersley and when he asked them to help him, he was allegedly told by the policemen they were on their way to another case and couldn’t help him.

“I don’t understand why the police work as though they are in a restaurant.

“They won’t help another table because they won’t get a tip for it.

“Why couldn’t they have just put it through the radio and informed the other police there was someone else in Dersley who needed help?” asked the complainant.

The police did not respond at the time of publication.
