Motorists ask for working street lights on Welgedacht Road

Additionally, Abed says when there is heavy fog in winter, it is harder to see and it becomes dangerous for all involved.

Motorists are asking the metro to fix the street lights on Welgedacht Road.

The street lights are there, but many of them are not working.

Motorists say driving on the road after sunset is dangerous because it is too dark.

“This is a road that has a lot of traffic, both foot traffic, animals and cars.

“When you’re driving here at night, you’re afraid you will hit an animal or something else,” says driver Mohammed Abed.

Abed says Welgedacht Road connects communities of Grootvlei, Payneville, Slovo, Welgedacht and Bakerton.

Additionally, Abed says when there is heavy fog in winter, it is harder to see and it becomes dangerous for all involved.
