Bert Collins boxers fight their way to SA championships finals

In the final, Minette Dicks took on Kusi Ginede where she suffered a narrow defeat.

Boxers Clayton Meyer (14) and Minette Dicks (16), from Bert Collins Boxing Gym, took part in the SA champs and made their gym very proud.

The competition took place at Malumele Boxing Gym in Limpopo from September 22 to 29.

Meyer and Dicks fought with fierce but calculated determination.

The Gauteng Elite and Youth Championships took place on May 17 and 18 at the Transnet Boxing Academy in Koedoespoort, Pretoria.

Meyer punched his way convincingly to the finals, taking on some of the country’s biggest boxing talent.

Concerning Meyer’s performance, coach Freddie Dicks says: “He boxed extremely well in all his matches, especially in his second match where he played out of the books.”

Meyer took on Kasi Mabula in the final.

“It was a very tough fight, but we are very proud of his performance, especially in the first round where he had the upper hand”, says Freddie.

Minette fought her way to the finals as well with convincing determination.

In the final, she took on Kusi Ginede where she suffered a narrow defeat.

“She boxed very well, especially in her second fight where her performance was flawless,” says Freddie.
