The Duck Pond Park is in a terrible state.
Plastic bottles, glass bottles and other pieces of refuse are strewn all over the grass.
In addition, some of the gym equipment has been vandalised.

According to resident Petrus Gerber, people come to the park to throw parties and leave their refuse behind.
“There is glass everywhere.
“We want children to play here but it’s just too dangerous. They will cut themselves,” says Gerber.
Gerber says he hasn’t seen a clean-up crew in months.

“Someone has to do something about this.
“So I’m going to try and get some people together so we can clean this mess up ourselves,” says Gerber.
This problem however is only affecting the outside of the duck pond.
Kathy and Henry Preston are still looking after the ducks and the pond itself is not affected by the pollution.
The metro have failed to respond to our inquiry at the time of publication.
