Local model off to the big stage

Local model dreams big

Willie Smuts from Selcourt has plenty to celebrate after the school holidays.

On September 28 and 29, Willie competed in The International ARTS Talent Showcase at Silver Star Casino.

Talented singers, models and dancers from across the nation took part in this showcase in hopes of getting a callback to further international auditions in New York City next year.

Willie and his mother, Marycke, received the highly anticipated callback in the very early hours of the morning and were overcome with joy.

Performers who receive this callback will stand the chance of performing in front of the world’s leading talent scouts and judges, who will be on the lookout for fresh modelling, singing and dancing talents.

Smuts has previously won Mr Rainbow Nation and Mr Teen Tourism SA.

Smuts says: “I am very excited about this opportunity, but also a bit stressed.
