Metro suspects cattle herders to blame for Pollak Park sewage spill

Acting metro spokesperson Solly Mashabela says the current spillage was not easy to locate since it was deep in the veld.

In the article, Sewage continues to flow in Pollak Park, we reported how the metro has failed to fix a problem that was reported to them in July.

The metro has now responded and says the problem was initially caused by a broken sewer pipe that was repaired.

Acting metro spokesperson Solly Mashabela says the current spillage was not easy to locate since it was deep in the veld.

“The cause of the spillage was a damaged manhole which had rocks in it.

“It is suspected that it was vandalised by cattle herders.

“The metro has previously experienced such challenges where herders block manholes to cause spillages that irrigate grass for grazing,” says Mashabela.
