Metro ignores sewage problem next to Tonk Meter Drive

When the Addie went to the scene in July, we could not find the starting point of the leak as it was so big and the ground around the leak was unstable.

In July this year, the Addie wrote about the huge sewage leak next to Tonk Meter Drive, which was a big environmental disaster.

The leak was accidentally discovered by Springs CPF chairperson Barend van Heerden as he, alongside other community sub-policing forums, were chasing a suspect through bushes.

“This is a serious environmental pollution incident that will have devastating consequences for the environment in Springs and the Blesbokspruit,” says van Heerden.

On Monday, the Addie went back to the scene with ward Clr Shadow Shabangu and found nothing has changed.

“I’m not happy to see this.

“If I need to camp out at people’s offices to get this fixed, that is what I will do.
