Doulas spoil mums and babies at Far East Rand’s maternity ward

Although this is a bulk donation for Mandela Day, Sooljee and Hanna would like to try and keep the flow of gift bags constant.

For Mandela Day, the Far East Rand Hospital received a large donation of 250 prepacked gift bags for the maternity ward on Wednesday afternoon.

The donation was presented to staff by Tracy Hanna, who is the coordinating Doula for WOMBS at the hospital.

Many donors prefer to remain anonymous, but Razeena Sooljee and her tireless efforts are the reason this is possible.

“Other donors include Purity, Kindness and Confetti, Dubai Centre, Pad Princess and Asmeena, and Zaheera Bhayat.

“We would also like to thank our friends and families who support the hospital with donations,” says Hanna.

Although this is a bulk donation for Mandela Day, Sooljee and Hanna would like to try and keep the flow of gift bags constant.

Between 50 and 100 bags are prepared and donated to Far East Rand Hospital for the mothers with newborn babies on a monthly basis.
